Let our experts help bring your next event to life here.
From stylish suites to historical houses, we have a wide variety of flexible, well-equipped spaces to host conferences, team building away days, drinks parties, and private meetings.
Just two miles outside Birmingham city centre and on University of Birmingham’s leafy Edgbaston campus, we offer some of the best hotel conference rooms in Birmingham – all outside the city’s chargeable Clean Air Zone.
Fry Suite
The largest of our meeting rooms, the Fry Suite oozes contemporary cool and versatility. With subtle hues and ample space, it can easily be transformed to suit any conference or event.
Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the Fry Suite is fully accessible and perfectly positioned to help you make the most of our amenities. Next door you’ll find the Fry Lounge, a comfy space for delegates to unwind during breaks and tuck into our delicious event menus. Plush bedrooms await just moments away too, where your delegates can enjoy a great night’s sleep.
The Fry Suite is named after celebrated prison reformer, Margery Fry, who worked at Birmingham University as Warden of University House – the new women’s residence – in 1904.
Lloyd Suite
If you want to add some historical charm to your conference or event, look no further than the Lloyd Suite. Set apart from the main hotel building in our beautiful 1920s Hornton Grange, the suite has been designed to give you extra event privacy.
As well as benefiting from the suite’s relaxed and airy atmosphere, you’ll also have exclusive use of the ground floor of Hornton Grange. This includes a private lounge, ideal for breakout sessions and networking. You can also enjoy views across the Grange’s gardens and patio areas; you and your delegates can pop out here at any time for a breath of fresh air.
The suite takes its name from University of Birmingham’s own Dame Hilda Lloyd, Professor of Obstetrics, whose pioneering midwife ‘flying squads’ saved many lives in the 1930s.
Pevsner
Named after Sir Nikolaus Pevsner – a University of Birmingham research fellow and the author of a ground-breaking series of architectural guides to the UK – the Pevsner room is made to inspire. Located on the first floor of the hotel, this modern and contemporary space is light and bright, featuring large windows that give the room a lovely spacious feel.
Just down the stairs from the Pevsner, you’ll find our 1900 Restaurant and Bar – ideal places to catch up informally with colleagues and delegates outside of conference hours.
The Writers’ Suite
Just upstairs from the hotel’s main reception is The Writers’ Suite – a flexible, versatile, and contemporary space that can be configured to suit your requirements. The suite comprises three rooms, which can be joined together to create a fabulous space for networking or left as distinct zones for multi-sessional conferences.
The suite’s rooms celebrate creativity and provide the sanctuary that every great mind needs to be at its very best. There’s the Corelli, Lodge and MacNeice, all named after writers with connections to University of Birmingham: 20th century poet Louis MacNeice; David Lodge CBE, English novelist and critic; and prolific Victorian novelist Marie Corelli.
The Composers’ Suite
Just moments away from the heart of the hotel, you’ll find The Composers’ Suite. A sleek and contemporary space, the suite comprises two rooms that can be opened to create one bright and airy space. Boasting brilliant natural light and views across the hub of the hotel and its grounds, this is a place to inspire and be inspired.
The suite’s rooms are named after University of Birmingham’s first Professor of Music, Edward Elgar, and Granville Bantock, Elgar’s successor. Both were celebrated composers who had considerable influence over Birmingham’s musical scene.
Garth House Boardrooms
If you’re looking for somewhere a little different to host your next event or conference, you can’t beat Garth House. Set apart from the main hotel, this gorgeous historical house boasts three cosy rooms for intimate discussions, private dining, and workshops. When it’s time to relax, a comfy and welcoming lounge awaits you with views across relaxing greenery.
Each boardroom is named after one of University of Birmingham’s cultural assets: the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, Winterbourne House and Garden, and the Lapworth Museum of Geology. To make these spaces extra special, they contain University treasures, including fossils and original artworks, plus beautiful character lighting and fireplaces.
Peter Scott House
If you’re searching for a great meeting room in Birmingham without breaking the bank, you’ll love Peter Scott House. Located across the road from the main hotel, the venue is made for team away days, youth clubs and sports groups. Here you’re perfectly positioned to make the most of everything the hotel has to offer, plus nearby Edgbaston which is home to Edgbaston Stadium.
